Stage 1 Cupcake Class

We had a really enjoyable class this morning, whilst it was attempting to snow outside.

We talked baking and made some lovely vanilla cupcakes.

Using fondant icing and colouring pastes, everyone made their pretty decorations, flowers, hearts, butterflies and stars.

Then for the messy bit, a kilo of icing sugar making a large cloud above the island as the mixers made some very light and fluffy buttercream.

The final half an hour was spent mastering the art of swirling and getting used to the nozzle and icing bag.

Some very pretty boxes of cupcakes went home, adorned with extra sparkle and sprinkles.

Thanks everyone, it was great fun!

The cakes were full of orange zest, orange juice, mixed spice, rum .... delicious!

In the afternoon we had a lovely group from Falkland, who were very creative

Cupcakes to Cornwall

I've just taken a short break with a friend to St Ives in Cornwall.

My Favourite Place!

We stayed at Little Leaf, a great B&B at the top of town which has the most stunning views.

Brilliantly run by Lee and Danny, a couple who escaped London to start a new life.  I have followed their blog since they started their new venture and now in their second season I finally got to meet them.

And of course I had to take Cupcakes .... with little leaves on!

I can really recommend staying there, they have thought of everything, and they make the most amazing breakfasts, huge and delicious.

St Ives gave us 3 beautiful days of sunshine.  Red skies at night over Porthmeor Beach, bright turquoise and blues followed us on our coastal walk from Zennor to St Ives, and there was crystal clear water in the Harbour on our final morning.

I'm now refreshed and ready to start the Cupcake Term!

I'm looking forward to our "Class Trip" to the Cake and Bake Show on Sunday, I'll blog next week to let you know how we got on!

Safari Cupcakes and News

Here are some Safari Cupcakes I made recently for a boy's birthday treat.

My blog posts have been quiet of late I know, Treetops and Colourful Cupcakes is being quite quiet as it's GCSE season here!

But inbetween the study leave, exams and stresses I have been working away on new recipes and ideas that I will share with you at a later date.

There is a Stage 1 Cupcake Class this Wednesday, that has 2 spaces left on it, if you would like to come.  Come and enjoy the sunshine and some delicious cakes.

During the class we bake the cupcakes, spend time making fondant decorations and buttercream icing, adorn them with all things sparkly and pretty, and you will take home your 6 creations.  There is plenty of opportunity for questions and help and I also put together a notes and recipe booklet for you to take home.

Over the Summer we won't have any classes, they will start again in September with the dates appearing on here, but Colourful Cupcakes will still be available to make Cupcakes for you!

So if you have a party, birthday, anniversary or fun event coming up soon, let me know.

There are still spaces available on the Colourful Cupcakes trip to the Cake and Bake Show, see my blog posting about it below.  We'll have a great day, and there's nothing better than being delivered straight to the door!  (And of course afterwards when we are all laden with our goodies).

Enjoy the Sunshine!

Chocolate Cupcake Group - 21 April 2012

My lovely Falkland ladies came back today as a group to make Chocolate Cupcakes.

It was great fun, especially because they were so imaginative and used gorgeous colourings and combinations.

We had chocolate everywhere!  Melted, grated, sieved, cocoa powder, we made ganache with double cream, there were bars of Green & Blacks everywhere, it was definitely a chocolate high!

I look forward to seeing you back at Stage 2 in the Autumn!

Honeybee Cupcakes

I loved making these birthday Cupcakes today!

It made a nice change to move away from Christmas colours and back to vibrant pink, purple, green and turquoise.

The little bees were quite fiddly, especially the small hearts I attached for their wings, but they are very cute and well worth the effort.

Happy 12th Birthday Honey, I hope you had a great party.

Along with all of my sprinkles and glitters, there was a huge choice of sparkly things to decorate the Cupcakes with.
